GODFREY, Ill. – The RiverBend Growth Association hosted a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony as a part of The Mirage Barbershop + Salon grand opening to debut the new business and its renovated location. Community leaders and members joined in to help celebrate the occasion.
The RBGA led a ribbon-cutting ceremony held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, to mark the official grand opening of The Mirage Barbershop + Salon in Alton at 222 Herbert Street.
Alton Mayor David Goins shared commentary at the gathering of RBGA and community members, other leaders and supporters, and Owner Andrea Guthrie’s family and salon staff.
In addition to remarks from the mayor, the RBGA team, along with a brief history and introduction of other staff members by the owner, attendees enjoyed a festive menu of food options including charcuterie board assortments, other snacks, and some tasty provisions from Jimmy John’s.
“We also did a champagne toast, and guests were encouraged to raise a glass of their chosen beverage with us,” said Guthrie.
Guthrie noted that a soft opening of the salon had taken place on Nov. 1. “But most of my team had been working in the Alton/Godfrey area at other places for the last 10-plus years,” she said. “So, it was a no-brainer for us when we picked where we wanted to plant our roots.”
The Mirage currently has three employees and one intern. In addition to Guthrie, other staff includes Barber/Stylist Leshelle McBride, Colorist/Stylist Randi Crane, Eyelash/Eyebrow Stylist Samantha Schaibly, and Stylist Intern Jada Sievers.
“We are so excited to get to bring our vision of a salon for the whole family to Alton,” Guthrie said further. “We have poured our hearts into creating a place that has a little something for everyone, and we can’t say thank you enough to the community for welcoming us the way they have.”
