Chamber Board Member

Position Overview

The Chamber Board Member serves as a volunteer leader and ambassador for the Chamber, helping advance its mission to strengthen the business community, promote economic growth, and create opportunities for members and the communities they serve.

Board members provide leadership, guidance, and oversight while actively supporting Chamber programs, events, membership initiatives, and community partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to support the Chamber’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • Attend and actively participate in Board meetings, committees, and strategic planning activities.
  • Serve as a champion for the Chamber and promote its programs, events, and membership benefits.
  • Support membership recruitment, retention, and engagement efforts.
  • Encourage businesses and community organizations to become involved with the Chamber.
  • Attend Chamber events and activities and actively participate in networking and relationship-building opportunities.
  • Advocate for initiatives that support local businesses, economic development, workforce development, and a strong business community.
  • Provide insight, expertise, and constructive feedback on Chamber programs, policies, and initiatives.
  • Help identify opportunities for partnerships and collaboration with businesses, civic organizations, nonprofits, and community leaders.
  • Support fundraising, sponsorship, and revenue-generating initiatives when appropriate.
  • Serve as a positive representative of the Chamber in the community.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive Chamber business and Board discussions.
  • Fulfill any additional responsibilities outlined in the Chamber’s bylaws and Board policies.

An effective Board member is expected to:

Time Commitment

Board members should be prepared to attend regularly scheduled Board meetings (currently bi-monthly), participate in committee or special project work, and attend Chamber events and activities throughout the year. The level of involvement may vary based on Board responsibilities and individual committee assignments.

Term of Service

Board members serve a designated term in accordance with the Chamber’s bylaws and may be eligible for reappointment or election for additional terms.

Chamber Board members are more than decision-makers—they are community leaders, advocates, connectors, and champions for local business. Through their leadership and involvement, Board members help create a stronger, more connected, and economically vibrant community.
